Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome changes resonate through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine cult.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Changes
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Features
Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
