Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
