Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Changes

Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Required Changes

A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
